Larva pupated March 3, 2007 after being in spring conditions since February 25, 2007

4.  #1 on  evening of March 14, 2007.  On the morning of March 15th the pupa was all black including abdomen but showed some lighter markings on the wing case. The butterfly emerged the same morning.


Larva collected August 02, 2006 on lupine Francis Peak, Davis County, Utah by Todd Stout
Over wintered as  a last instar  larva
1. Larva #2 on February 25,  2007 after coming out of diapause
2. Larva inside nest. The larva "sews" the lupine leaves together with silk.  When moved to a fresh plant, the larva took about 4 hours to choose the right frond of leaves and silk them into this tube nest. August 5, 2006.
