Various view of adult Great Basin Wood-nymph located August 20, 2006 - Butterfield Canyon, Salt Lake County, Utah Description 1 3/8 to 1 11/16" They have two eyespots and the upper eyespot is larger in the male but about the same size in the female. Eyespots are of equal distance from the outer edge of wing. Dark basal half of hindwing underside is separated from lighter outer half by an irregular dark line. Univoltine and the larvae hibernate immediately after emerging. Habitat Juniper or pinyon-juniper woodlands, sagebrush Back to Top |
