Host Plant
Indian Paintbrush - Castilleja chromosa
They prefer eating flower buds and the bright scarlet leafy bracts that surround the narrow tubular greenish-yellow flowers.  They like to rest on a dead twig from the previous year's plants so a twig was placed in the container next to the flower and bracts for their use. Number three and five larva formed a pupa using a twig  as a base.

Ova - unknown
Larvae - unknown since they were located when they were fourth or fifth instars
Pupae - It took 9 to 10 days for the pupae to develop and the butterfly to eclose.
