Ova #2 on Salvia superba
A  Painted Lady oviposited on a Meadow Sage - Salvia superba plant in our garden on May 18, 2008. The egg hatched on May 21st and was placed on Salvia.

Larva #2 on Salvia superba
#2 First instar on Salvia superba on May 21, 2008
#2 Fourth instar on Salvia superba set to molt on June 13th.
#2 New  fifth instar  June 13th.
This larva fed on Salvia superba until a few days after it molted to 5th instar. It then stopped eating and was unable to pupate.
