Characteristics
Size:  Rfw  52-71 mm (2 - 2 3/4  inches); black abdomen,  dorsal back with narrow cream  or yellow submarginal band on both wings. Hindwing has orange eyespot with black center. Host: plants in the umbel family.  Flight March to August  and may have 1 or 2 flights

Larva collected by Todd Stout on May 20, 2006  - Vicinity of Window Blind Peak San Rafael Swell Emery County, Utah

This butterfly's pupa was not expected to start developing until 2007 but  began developing, showed  the  wing pattern and  then emerged into a butterfly on July 10, 2006 at 12:30 P.M.
