Characteristics
  • Small, 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches. 
  • Dancers have hair on their legs that is longer than the space between the hairs
  • They like to land on horizontal surfaces rather than foliage
  • Vivid blue with wide, dark, dorsal  stripe on the upper thorax
  • On the sides of the thorax they have black stripes pinched in the middle
  • The middle segments of the abdomen have backward pointing arrows on the sides
  • Segments eight, nine and ten are all blue
  • Females are tan, and patterned like males
