  • Weighs 15-45 lbs., 
  • 40 to 60" in length including the tail and 15-20" high at the shoulders
  • Gray back, reddish flanks, tawny legs, feet and ears
  • The tail is carried lower than a wolf.
  • Their numbers are increasing in part because  their major predator, the wolf, has  been nearly exterminated
  • They can run up to 40 mph
