Description
  • 4-8 feet long
  • Stout body
  • Relatively small head
  • Pointed scales with ridges
  • 4 scales across the nose in front of the eyes, most other snakes have 2 scales
  • A powerful constrictor that hunts rodents in their burrows and occasionally will climb trees to search for birds' eggs
  • They can be found in deserts, sagebrush, grasslands, meadows, brushy areas, tundra, forests and woodlands
