Characteristics
Plant grows to 5 feet with 5 lobed, maple-like leaves 2 to 8 inches long.  Flowers are about 2 inches in diameter. The seed pod break open like orange segments when dry.  Some varieties of this plant are endangered. Host plant for Common Checkered-Skipper.
