Description
syn: species: Applegatei, ssp. martinii
A foot tall with bracts that vary from pink to orange and red. Bracts and sepals are cupped and the tips of some bracts, sepals,
and leaves are deeply cut into three lobes. Paintbrush is partially parasitic and is with it's host plant sagebrush in this photo.  Greasewood  is another host plant it may use.

Host  plant  for  the Fulvia - Thessalia fulvia, Variable -Euphydryas chalcedona  and Leanira - Thessalia leanira  Checkerspot  Butterflies.
