Characteristics
A non-native plant  up to 5 feet  tall, 1 1/2 inch pinkish-purple  flowers bloom midsummer. Stem leaves are pinnately lobed, hairy and prickly on the top and cottony below.  Bracts are narrow and tipped with a spine. Seeds are topped by a circle of white hair like plumes.
