Description
L 7.5 WS 17,  Wings extend well beyond tail when bird is standing, Dark rump, Buffy face and breast with fine streaking on breast that doesn't extend along sides, Back is splotchy with dark-centered feathers, Dark legs and bill

Behavior
Summer on dry tundra, winter on inland and coastal lakes, marshes,  mudflats and grasslands. Forages on dry mudflats for insects. Lays 2-4 marked pinkish eggs in shallow depression on tundra
