1 to 3 feet tall. Flower 1/2 to 3/4 inches long with blue to violet, tubular to bowl-shaped clusters on reddish stalk. There are 4-5 bronze-purple bracts at base of the flower cluster.  All leaves are basal, long and slender.  The plant seems to rise from the middle of another plant..
