January 10, 2006 - Road from Vernon to Eureka, Juab County, Utah.  Utah has two forms of Pinyon, the edulis where two needles per fascicle and  monophylla with one needle per fascicle.


Characteristics
20 to 40 feet tall, needles 1 to 1 1/2 inches long, egg shaped cones

Butterfly larvae that use Pinyon Pine as a host plant
Western Pine Elfin - Callophrys eryphon eryphon
Pine White - Neophasia menapia
