Characteristics
  • 2 inches long. 
  • Has four black spots on forewing and hindwing. 
  • Male has 2 dark spots each wing, the outer one is shaped like a number 8 and goes from leading edge to trailing edge.
  • Also has 3 white spots. 
  • The end of the wing is clear. 
  • Abdomen and the top of the thorax  is pruinose blue. 
  • The female has a brown body with dashed yellow side stripes. 
  • The female wings are like the male's.
  • They fly from April to October and prefer ponds, lakes and ditches
